SKRIFF'S CALL - June 1, 2008
DJ Skriff will now publish weekly to biweekly music reviews, keeping you up to date on the latest songs.
With the advent of internet music downloads, the demand of consumers to know more about individual songs has increased. Many folks I have talked to who have switched to the internet as their primary source of music cite a great dissatisfaction in the "traditional" music market. Buying an entire album frustrates many when they spend their money on an album that has 1-2 songs they like. True, few albums - even those that go platinum - possess the power to have multiple songs featured as top hits on the charts.
One of my favorite aspects of being a DJ has been promoting artists by introducing first-time listeners to the artists' various songs. One of my favorite questions to answer when I'm behind the booth is, "Who sings this?"
To bring this interest in promotion to a more selective music market, I have decided to write reviews for music on a song-by-song basis.
On each review, I try to feature comments on both the lyrical quality of the song as well as instrumental production, ending with an overall 1-5 score known as "Skriff's Call". Additionally, I will provide links to purchase the songs at popular online music stores and for free listening when available.
